Daddy’s call woke me up the next day,

“Omalicha, I am sincerely sorry that I was not able to pick your call yesterday, I had a really long meeting and when I got back home, I was too tired to return the call.”

“Bia, Nkechi, which 16-year-old girl still writes things in her diary? One day, I will take that silly thing from you and go through it, if I find anything that is close to my name in it, you will smell pepper!”

I was back home; back to walking on egg shells. I and my dad had spent the Christmas holiday in our village in Awka, last year while my mum stayed with my sister, Chinwe, in Lagos. The yuletide season always ended with a rather unexplainable misunderstanding between my mum and dad. Daddy was always eager to spend it in the village, while my mum had countless social events to attend in

When I was younger and not sure which way was the right way to go, I wished I had someone who I could share my thoughts, more like questions, with. Someone I could trust and be sure would always give me a sincere direction through life. But I found no one befitting this role.

I could not talk to my dad, because, I mean, he is a guy and would have never understood the confusion that female teens go through. Like: can you imagine me saying, “Dad, when is it appropriate to have my first kiss? With

TATU the Movie Review

                                 TATU.

TATU is a well told African epic adventurous story, with a little bit of horror in it. The movie is an adaptation of the book, Tatu, written by Abraham E. Nwankwo, produced and expertly directed by Filmone Production and Don Omope respectively. Abraham presented a very relatable tale of the humiliation and desperation that comes with a woman’s childlessness, in an intriguing way.

Tatu is a tale of a childless Nigerian widow, who will stop at nothing to hear the cry of her own child. Her determination pushes her to enter into a pact with the god of her land, Gburu, to bare a daughter, Tatu, and then sacrifice her for the forgiveness of the sins of the people. At the sight of her child, the mother would

    Roti…
The movie “Roti” is a suspense filled drama that would keep you fixed to your seat, eyes wide open, calls and messages totally ignored till the very end. Award winning director and producer Kunle Afolayan, as usual, proved that he is no ordinary Nollywood film maker with this one (he must have read my last review). He teamed up with Sola Dada to address a question that unconsciously lingers in the minds of most of us: Does reincarnation truly exist? This movie, however, reminds me of Rihanna’s third album, Good girl gone bad; it was a splendid movie that went sour.
