MY EXPERIENCE AT THE KING OF BOYS MOVIE PREMIERE

There are a few movie premieres that I have attended and this one has been my best so far.

When I got the invite to this premiere, I went straight to check out the dress code for the event because I know my Lagos people; they do not joke when it comes to dressing to events. The dress code said ‘Gangster Royalty’. For a split second, I was blank… ‘Gangster what?’ I thought to myself and headed for my wardrobe to see if I could make out anything that spoke ‘Gangster and Royalty’ at the same time but no, I couldn’t.

Long story short, I decided that dressing safe was better than dressing wrong, so I went in for a big white shirt, slightly ripped sky blue denim trousers and a black plum heel; made up, grabbed my white purse and off I was to the premiere.

                                 Merry Men; The Real Yoruba Demons.

Merry Men is a comedy drama that features a range of interesting actors like: Jim Iyke, Ramsey Nouah, Folarin Falana (Falz the Bad Guy), Ayo Makun (AY), Damilola Adegite, Lilian Esoro and a host of others. The VENDOR.

The Vendor is a comedy film that is mediocrely written and directed by Odunlade Adekola. He presented a tale of a young man’s misfortune in a fiercely forceful way. The movie features a range of actors like: Odunlade Adekola, Adunni Ade, Jide Kosoko and Pa James.

The Vendor is a story about a young man, Gbadebo Godwin Akunwunmi (Odunlade Adekola), who is abandoned by his wealthy politician father and has to sort out life alone. Having to do several menial jobs, fall in love and eventually, luck meets him when he is reunited with his father (Jide Kosoko) and welcomed into the life of affluence.

At different times, social media can be anything you want it to be and this time, it served as an eye opener for me.

After I visited Keje Grill and totally fell in love with their Ala-Veg, I asked my followers on Instagram to suggest a restaurant in Abuja where they were sure sold good food. Several restaurants were mentioned in the comment section but this particular lady sent me a direct message, assuring me that Tulip Bistro is one restaurant I will be grateful I visited. The confidence in her message made me give it a try.

MY FIRST SUSHI EXPERIENCE

What is more exciting than eating something new? Eating it at a very boogie restaurant. And boogie is the only word I have to describe the Launch of Afro Sushi at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

When I got the invite to attend the launch, I was ecstatic. I mean, I only came to Abuja to find my foot and there I was getting invites to dine with the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria! Yeah, I met him at the event. Okay, let me tell you how it went down.

Written, Produce and Directed by Moses Inwang, Crazy People is a skillfully directed stunner that will leave you questioning the mind of the writer.

Crazy People is a tale of a schizophrenia who is cajoled into believing he is a popular Nollywood actor and will stop at nothing to reclaim his rightful position.

Let me start by saying that this is not one of those posts where I preach to you on how Valentine’s day is more about giving to the poor and less privileged. Nah! I have lived long enough on earth to know that Saint Valentine did a honorable job with giving to and caring for the poor and we sincerely appreciate him for that. In our century, however, we have long realized that we have the remaining 353 days to give to the poor and make them feel special; so how about we take out just one day, Valentine’s day, to show the ‘special someone’ in our lives just how special they are to us. June is a romantic comedy, mediocrely directed and produced by Desmond Elliot and Chinney Love respectively. They presented the very familiar tale of a dissatisfied rich kid who is not afraid to give up his inheritance for genuine happiness, in a not so impressing way.

In Mercy hostel, our room was on the ground floor; the last room before the back gate, which was almost always locked. We lived in a self contain apartment, with a bathroom wide enough to contain just one person per time and the kitchen was attached to a small corner of the room, right beside the entrance, making it impossible to prepare a meal without your neighbors having a whiff of it.

Mummy was too occupied to remember that an Nkechi existed. I mean, how does a mother forget her own child? Well, only my mum had the answer to that question and even as her lady-child, I did not have the balls to find it out.

WIVES ON STRIKE: The Revolution.

 Wives on Strike: The Revolution, is a dramedy sequel of Wives on Strike part 1. It features an interesting blend of comic characters and a bunch of Nollywood legends like: Julius Agwu, Toyin Abraham, Odunlade Adekola, Kenneth Okonkwo, Sola Sobowale, Omoni Oboli and a host of others. Omoni Oboli expertly wrote, produced and directed this hilarious and strongly-messaged driven film.
